Biosimilar competition: molecules, markets and developers
How many biosimilars exist for each molecule, in how many markets, and who makes them.
This page shows how many biosimilars exist for each molecule, and in how many of the seven markets.
The first table lists the molecules with the most competition. Adalimumab, denosumab, pegfilgrastim and bevacizumab have more than fifteen products each, approved in all seven markets. Any new product for these molecules will compete on price and on having every strength and presentation.
The second table lists the molecules with the fewest competition. Some have only one or two biosimilars, and several markets with none. These are the molecules where a new company still has room.
Further down, the same counts are grouped by therapeutic area, and the last two tables rank the markets and the developers by their number of approved products.
One note on the counts. A product sold under several names is counted once. The page does not cover sales, prices or patents. A crowded molecule can still be a good choice and an open one a poor one, depending on which markets a company can reach and what it can manufacture. EvySaif helps companies work that out.
