About biosimilars in the United Arab Emirates
Medicines in the United Arab Emirates are registered with the Emirates Drug Establishment, which keeps a public directory of registered products. The directory does not say whether a product is a biosimilar and gives no registration number; registration of an imported biologic relies on prior approval by a regulator such as EMA or FDA, so every biosimilar here was approved elsewhere first and is shown as registered rather than approved. Most registrations come from Sandoz, Celltrion through its partner Hikma, and Biocon, with Pfizer, Amgen and Accord supplying the rest. Several molecules with biosimilars in the West have none registered here yet; those are the ones most likely to arrive next.
