About Sanofi

Sanofi is both an originator, with Lantus copied by others, and a biosimilar maker of insulins. Its insulin lispro was the first in Europe, in 2017, its insulin aspart the first in Europe and the first fast-acting insulin biosimilar in the United States, and both are approved in Japan and Canada. In the United States its lispro, Admelog, is a licensed insulin rather than a biosimilar. Its Indian subsidiary Shantha makes human insulin.
